The random thoughts of a Christian parrot
Valentine’s Day is getting close. And did you know that parrots can also have special valentines? Here’s my story……..
In a nearby village, there lives a lady Vicar called Penny. Every time I meet her, my eyeballs dilate and my quills start to rattle. It’s always been love at first sight between us. She whispers sweet nothings into my ear, and in return, I fluff up my feathers and offer to regurgitate.
Sometimes several weeks pass when we don’t see each other, but that only serves to make every meeting all the more precious. And although Penny has a human husband in town, I’ve become her feathery admirer. And for the last couple of years, I’ve sent her a special Valentine’s Card. It’s made up of all of my finest feathers that fall out throughout the year.
And the reason why I love Penny is probably because I sense so much of God inside her. After all, God is real love. And God is pure love. As the classic passage in 1 Corinthians 13 says:
“Love is patient and love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.”
When you are drawn to someone because you sense so much goodness inside them, you are really being drawn towards God’s love. Whether they realise it or not, they’ve allowed God to enter inside them.
I really hope that you can also share Valentine’s Day with someone that radiates pure love from their soul…..
