Coco Calling No. 112 - True Happiness

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

Humans sometimes look at me and ask: “How can that bird be so happy?” And I can see why. Because I have no real power or status. My home is nothing more than a cage, even though I come out a lot. I own very few possessions. I have no wife. And I can sometimes be rather naughty. In human terms, I’m a bit of a failure.

And yet, in so many ways, I have everything and more. Because I don’t allow my happiness to be governed by the physical; by all those things that humans crave for as they go through their lives. Instead, I try to focus on the spiritual. Because I’ve learnt that my true happiness comes from allowing God to enter into my heart and mind.

True happiness is all about being filled with love. It’s about feeling compassion and giving generously. It’s about forgiving and accepting. It’s about changing my attitudes and broadening my perspectives. It’s about living out my life with humility. And it’s about knowing with certainty that I am a part of God’s creation, and that all of the hardship and suffering in this world, -terrible as it is, -will be more than compensated by the love of God and the beauty of Heaven.

“Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.” (1Peter:1:8)

So have a wonderful day. Look beyond the Coronavirus pandemic. Look beyond your financial worries. Look beyond what you have lost or lack, or all those things which trouble you. Know that God is with you and for you, and that ultimately, all will be well. Yes, today really is a wonderful day!
