Coco Calling No.256 - Searching for Treasure

Whilst on holiday on the Scillies, my owner and his wife did a lot of beachcombing. It’s a kind of infectious and therapeutic activity which humans enjoy when they have time on their hands. And a sandy beach can be a place full of treasure, depending upon what you are looking for. Parrots like anything bright and sparkly, so had I been there, I’d have been searching for all of the shells with shiny mother-of-pearl. Meanwhile, my owner has a thing about limpets, so he always seeks out ‘limpets of character.’ And my owner’s wife has a passion for sea glass. In fact, there can be four or five humans all walking up and down the same stretch of tideline, and the beauty is that each of them can discover their own special ‘treasure.’

And that’s how it is in life as well. Our world is so full of richness and variety; so even when God leads us along the same path as others on our quest to find Him, each journey will be a series of uniquely different experiences. All kinds of things will grab our attention as we make our own personal discoveries. And at times, we may veer off the beaten path and take our own little detours and side routes. But ultimately, the master plan is for us all to arrive at the same destination -Heaven. And that should make our lives incredibly exciting, even on those days when the rain pours and the storms blow. Because this journey of life is the ultimate adventure and something wonderful awaits us all.

“We may run, walk, stumble, drive or fly, but let us never lose sight of the reason for the journey, or miss a chance to see a rainbow on the way.” (Gloria Gaither: [1942-present]: American Christian singer-songwriter and writer)

“Always remember this; life is a journey. It is a path, a journey to meet Jesus.” (Pope Francis: [1936-present]: Current leader of the Catholic Church)

“Let my steps stay on your track so that my feet will not stumble.”

(Psalm 17:5)
